Senior Associate (Geopolitical)
About the opportunity
Ankura Consulting Geopolitical Team seeks a highly motivated Senior Analyst for its Middle Eastern/Africa (ME/A) division. The ME/A Senior Analyst helps clients navigate the uncertainties of the business climate, manage their risk exposure and take advantage of new opportunities. The Senior Analyst works closely with senior management-and play key roles in supporting the firm’s research, analysis, and client engagement. The ideal candidate commands a strong understanding of global macroeconomic trends, business climates, and political dynamics across Middle East/Africa markets.
Essential duties and responsibilities
The candidate must be highly competent, experienced, collaborative, and able to take initiatives with the ability to juggle and prioritize tasks. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communications skills.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•         Conduct research and analysis to produce strategic intelligence and information products for clients on a wide range of topics with a particular focus              on economic and finance issues,

•         Track market and industry developments impacting clients’ equities,

•         Draft deliverables: newsletters, talking points, analytical notes, and presentations,  

•         Develop visuals (maps, graphs) for the team’s products using Excel and/or Tableau,

•         Develop and maintain networks of contact and sources knowledgeable about the ME/A regions,

•         Build and maintain relationships with counterparts in the firm,

•         Follow up on contacts made by leadership and support the cultivation of external relationships.
Basic Qualifications

•         Master’s Degree preferred,

•         4-5 years of professional experience in research, analysis, or strategy with a focus on economic risk and emerging markets,

•         Demonstrated familiarity with the Middle East and Africa,

•         Expertise in political economy, finance, and business operations required,

•         Arabic language capability strongly desired,

•         Proficient in Microsoft Office application (advanced Excel skills preferred) and Tableau.
Required Skills

•         Possess expert knowledge of open source research techniques and/or intelligence processes,

•         Must have excellent writing, briefing, and speaking skills, and be able to communicate clearly and concisely to an executive audience,

•         Must be a self-starter and ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment,

•         Must pay close attention to detail and excel under tight deadlines,

•         Highly motivated, eager to learn, and open to feedback.
