Ankura is looking for valuation professionals with 7+ years of experience to join its fast-growing Business Valuation Dispute Analysis practice.  Ideal candidates should have experience in business valuation, securities analysis, investment banking, corporate M&A development, litigation consulting, and/or other related areas.  Responsibilities include applying technical valuation, finance and other analytical skills to various client situations.  Ankura provides the opportunity to work collaboratively on small, diverse teams with skilled, intelligent, driven and successful individuals.  Ankura is focused on hiring people that will serve as the foundation of a growing firm dedicated to its people, culture and delivering high quality service to our clients.   
As a Director, you will be a key member of the engagement team.  You will be responsible for designing, managing, and performing substantive valuation and finance-related analyses and conveying your results to internal and external stakeholders.  Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
  • Applying valuation, financial, and analytical skills to various client issue, such as: quantification of value or price of a business or stakeholder interest in a business, detailed analysis of financial information, companies, and securities, preparation of complex cash flow projections, calculations of economic damages in complex disputes
  • Performing analyses to assess complex fact patterns and preparing financial and valuation analyses, reports, and schedules undertaking extensive financial, company and valuation research, plus using valuation-related research and database tools
  • Ability to work with and support expert witness testifiers throughout the litigation cycle and other dispute resolution processes
  • Summarize findings for review by senior colleagues, legal counsel and clients
  • Maintaining detailed working paper records that reflect assumptions, sources, and methodologies underlying all substantive and analytical tasks
  • Preparing schedules for clients and court filings to depict project scope and findings
  • Assisting with compiling, drafting, and editing expert reports
  • Managing a team of junior colleagues, developing project work plans, and ensuring quality work product across the team.
  • Developing productive working relationships with legal counsel, clients, and colleagues
  • Contributing to the overall success of the firm by participating in pitches, developing internal training, and marketing the firm externally to prospective clients.
  • 7+ years of experience working in business valuation or related field
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Preferred candidates have a valuation-related professional organization designation credential at the time of application
  • Strong technical valuation and finance skills
  • Understanding of and substantial experience with application and research of generally accepted business valuation standards, theory and practice
  • Managing a team of junior colleagues, developing project work plans, and ensuring quality work product across the team.
  • Developing productive working relationships with legal counsel, clients, and colleagues
  • Familiarity and knowledge of:
- Fundamental financial analysis, and generally accepted accounting principles in the context of financial analysis
- Financial, company and valuation research techniques and sources
- Valuation-related database tools and on-line platforms
  • Proficient with PC environments and related software, including Microsoft Office applications, especially advanced skills in Excel
  • Desire to work towards ABV, ASA, CDBV, CFA, CVA or other valuation-related professional organization designations
  • Able to work in a team as well as independently
  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal), mathematical, and organizational skills
  • Able to adapt quickly in handling multiple/evolving tasks as a result of new engagements and/or re-prioritized deadlines
  • Highly motivated, eager to learn, willing to travel, and able to motivate others
  • Able to mentor and develop junior colleagues
  • Possess strong team-oriented personality characteristics: hard-working, thoughtful, and collaborative, with a positive outlook and confidence without cockiness
  • Flexibility to travel as required
